SAN
CLEMENTE COMMUNITY
Just south of Dana Point and west
of the I-5 there is a small Spanish Village tucked away
and nestled by the Sea. At first glance, the Spanish tile
roofs and white stucco walls set against the blue waters
of the Pacific are reminiscent of the Greek Isles, just
as Ole Hanson, the father of San Clemente envisioned.
A
writer for the Los Angeles Times wrote in 1927, "If
the charms of this place could be shown to the poor,
snow-bound, wind-beaten people back East, there would
be an exodus so great the hills above San Clemente would
be covered like mushrooms." Though just shy of
being a century old, San Clemente boasts of some of
the most beautiful historical buildings in the west.
While in town, make a point to visit the Casa Romantica,
the historic home of Ole Hanson overlooking the Pacific
Ocean, as well as our wonderful historical museum.
Much like
Ole Hanson, Dr. Rice and his family fell in love with
San Clemente over 30 years ago when his wife, Gabrielle,
invited him to come and spend time with her family at
the beach as they vacationed just south of T Street.
After Dr. Rice graduated from dental school, he and
his wife chose San Clemente as their place of permanent
residence and have been active community members ever
since. Dr. Rice has been involved in the community as
mayor and member of the Clemente City Council from 1986
to 1990. He is a member of the San Clemente Chamber
of Commerce, of the Downtown Business Association, and
a past president and board member of the city’s
Boys and Girls Club . The Rice family members have been
proud residents of the San Clemente community for over
30 years.
